Hi,
Unlike other PC download applications the Xbox app doesn't do the installation of games (although it looks like it does). All games are actually installed via the Windows Shop.
To update your games manually you should be able practice this via the Windows Store and access updates from the tiptop right corner of the store in the same fashion all Windows Shop apps are updated

As stated in my initial post, I have tried updating in the microsoft store. The "get updates" button on the upper correct of the microsoft shop does indeed manage to find updates for useless born apps I actually wish I could delete; only information technology has never once found an update for a game. Every bit far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to exist a style to check individual games for an update. This is really weird.
For example, I was on Dead past Daylight 5.0.0 yesterday, but there was an update to 5.0.1 recently. Neither the microsoft shop nor the xbox app detected this automatically. When I pressed "get updates" in the microsoft store, it managed to find updates for "your phone" and "microsoft solitaire collection", but not Dead by Daylight (or any other game). I ended upward having to uninstall the game, redownload, and reinstall it. This took multiple hours and fabricated the internet extremely slow , but did actually manage to fetch the update.
The Xbox app does have an "update all" button in the upper right; only this push button is ever grayed out and has never one time been clickable, making it worthless, as is the "automated updates" switch on the aforementioned screen.
Is at that place some subconscious push button to force an individual game for updates? Or is in that location some setting that could be interfering? Information technology seems extremely strange that the app can't practise something every bit elementary as noticing that the version number for a game doesn't match the most recent version.

I was able to solve this. My Xbox app on PC showed a new update for Doom Eternal. But clicking Update in that app didn't do anything.
On opening the Microsoft Store and going to updates, it listed the Doom Eternal update along with a few others. I did a Update all and to my surprise all apps, except Doom Eternal got updated and it remained in my queue.
Then I clicked Go Updates. It plant a few more apps to update and this time Doom Eternal update started downloading besides. No idea what the trigger is though.

An update:
A couple days ago, Dead by Daylight 5.0.2 was released, and so I decided to use this equally an opportunity to endeavour out a few things to see if I could somehow become the microsoft store to detect the update.
one) A friend of mine had the same problem, and the way he resolved information technology was to go to the game's page in the store and click "install on my devices", next to the play push button. This plainly worked simply fine for him and he was able to install the update. Unfortunately when I tried this, information technology simply tells me that it is already installed on my device. Failure.
ii) While the microsoft store doesn't seem to have any option to verify an install (information technology Actually needs this), there IS a "repair" selection in the app settings for Expressionless by Daylight (not accessible through the microsoft shop, by the fashion). I was hoping that attempting to repair the install might find that it was out of appointment. However, clicking repair merely resolves in less than 2 seconds. Failure.
three) I decided to attempt what Vinod suggested and but keep attempting to "become updates" repeatedly after the windows store manages to update other apps. Unfortunately this did null. Once all apps were updated, pressing the "get updates" button does not find any further updates, no matter how much I do information technology. Failure.
For context hither is a screenshot of my microsoft shop screen:
Equally you can encounter, Dead by Daylight is listed as being on version 5.0.ane despite five.0.2 being released on the 29th.
This system is entirely broken and desperately needs both a "check for updates" button on private apps, and a LOT more than piece of work on the underlying systems used to find updates in the kickoff identify. The fact that I have to completely uninstall and reinstall the game just to install small hotfixes is totally unacceptable.

I've been having troubles with Wasteland 3 from the xbox-gaming-laissez passer two times already (the latter ane merely solved right at present). The game from 1 day to the other started crashing at startup displaying a message regarding an error due to an update that has to be installed (but updating was grayed out in the xbox-app, and microsoft store did not see the game at all). What works for me is searching the game in the Microsoft Store then not clicking the game-pass version, simply rather the one from the store itself. Information technology then starts downloading the update (actually information technology says that it's 'installing the game' above the progress bar, but the download size of ~3GB vs >20GB of the initial install through the xbox-app seems more like this missing 'update' to me). I hope this works for other games as well, at to the lowest degree information technology's a trigger for Wasteland 3 on xbox/game-pass.

Why? How can we exist in 2021 and have a fairly new app launched with such terrible functionality. The ONLY reason one needs a launcher is to manage games. Launching games I tin can do from my desktop. Steam has existed for a long time at present. Is it too much to ask that the largest software visitor in history at least provide basic, convenient functionality in its apps? Why IS in that location even a windows store for games? Why on earth isn't all this bundled into one app? Isn't that the purpose of having the app? I hateful this is just kind of cool. How is it possible that nobody at MS realized how annoying it would be to take to use the app to download and launch games merely the web based shop to update and manage them?
Its kind of heed blowing.

Same issue here, and upgrading to Windows xi Beta did not resolve it. At this betoken it'due south pretty clear that the XBox app, and Windows Stor integration with information technology, is totally broken. Is there a way to bring this more to Microsoft's attention?
